Reproductive and Sexual Health Communication Alliance

Improving experiences of healthcare, together.

The RHSCA is a broad alliance of academics, clinicians, and third sector organisations with an interest in improving experiences of communication in reproductive and sexual healthcare, where systematic inequalities mean that communication challenges can pose serious problems. The Alliance was launched at University College London in June, 2025, having developed out of events focused on multi-disciplinary dialogue around language for pregnancy care hosted at UCL in 2023 and 2024 (funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and Research England). It is the first of its kind to foster international, interdisciplinary, and cross-sector collaborations to explore the role of language in supporting improvements in care experiences in reproductive and sexual health contexts, and to advocate for reform where needed.
